Patience

A couple of weeks ago during Friend Makin' Monday, Kasey asked us to share some helpful tips. Not being much of a "tip" girl, I talked about some things I had taught ChellBell over the years. One of those things is my definition of Patience.

"Patience is waiting with a smile"

It's funny to me that the lessons I've taught ChellBell over the years typically end up being lessons I, myself, needed to learn.

This week has been excruciating when it came to waiting. I have found so much comfort in the loving words you all offered up, knowing that many of you have walked where I am walking. I admit that I have re-read so many of your comments this week, just in my quest for solace and a reminder that even when life is challenging, it still remains full of love, friendship, and hope. You have helped me wait with a smile!

I'm still waiting for closure. I still have morning sickness and other pregnancy symptoms. Honestly, it's been annoying to feel pregnant but no longer have a progressing pregnancy. Fortunately, my D&C is scheduled for early (and I mean ER-LAY) Monday morning. My doctor is going on vacation and is coming in at 5:30 before she leaves to perform the procedure.

Monday will be that critical page-turning day, where I end one chapter and begin another. I am am anxious to move forward, knowing that I will never be quite the same as I was before, but trusting that God's writing of my life story is powerful and without error. Maybe one day I will look back on this journey and have an understanding of why it all happened. Most likely not. Regardless, I don't question the author, and I pray that whatever He wants me to learn in this episode, and however He wants to show Himself to me during this time, will be accomplished.

Because isn't that, in the end, what it's all about?

In the meantime, here are some other things that helped me wait with a smile this weekend:

Spending time with my Mom's sister, whom I have not seen in 20 years...

Lunch at the Cheesecake Factory with ChellBell and Chris...

A night of swimming...

  4. Don't you just want to sneak-a-peek at the last pages of our books sometimes? I, too, believe wholly and completely in the Author of my life's story. He knows what circumstances are going to be foreshadowing for something later in life, He chuckles when He's being particularly witty, He holds me when He knows I won't understand why something has to happen to make my story complete.

Like you so eloquently said, He is why you have hope.

    Once again........ :-)
    I love you!!

  8. I am so sorry that I am just now reading about this. I feel like such a horrible friend for not giving you words of encouragement when you first shared this. However, know that I am thinking of you and that God is a God of love and goodness, and I know that all that he has for you is good, and your patience will be rewarded! Love ya! Have a great day!

  10. Hi, Christie. I'm back from a trip and saw this late, but I have been thinking about you and praying that you are well...as well as can be during a hard, hard time like this. Your faith is an inspiration.
