Month-o-Love Day 8: My two scents

Day 8: I heart...
Perfume

A little day 8 trivia -- Did you know that dogs associate different humans with different scents, which is how they distinguish between people who are familiar and those who are strangers.  I recently read that a dog's sense of smell is 50 times that of a human.  And since I have two dogs, I guess it is twice as important that I actually smell good.

Perfume is a really personal thing.  I think most girls, once they find one that suits them well, will hang on to it for years.  It's as critical in a wardrobe as a great fitting pair of jeans, and as much a part of who you are in sweats or heels as your own skin.

And because of that, there is no shortage of scents to choose from.  A scent should match the personality of who is wearing it  - a reflection of who you are and how you feel.

I found what I consider to be the perfect perfume about 4 years ago and just can't move on from it.  Believe me, I've been tempted, and my bathroom full of little sample bottles is proof.  But I just keep coming back to my favorite by Jo Malone.  I am completely crazy about Jo Malone's Pomegranate Noir .  It is a light, slightly sweet, spicy, organic smell.  Not perfumey -- very subtle.    The thing I love about Jo Malone scents is that they don't leave a "trail" -- you know, like when a lady gets off the elevator and leaves her Pepe Le Pew smell lingering for 6 more floors.  Or the lady that sits next to you in church, and you either gag through the service or have to get up to go to the bathroom (and just conveniently never come back) because of her strong "aroma".

Hopefully you've found a perfume that you love and want to stick with.  (I'm sure your dogs want you to stick with one also, so they don't get you confused for someone else...)

  1. I have quite a few perfumes, but I haven't found one that I love yet. Yours sounds really nice. I haven't tried Joe Mallone, but I have heard of it. I will have to go check it out.

    Great post!

  2. When I saw the title of this post I actually wondered if you were writing about Jo Malone. Last month when we were in Vegas, I went by her store every day and tried on a scent or two (because they can be "layered"). I loved her orginal scent and planned to buy it but never actually did. The finally day we were there we left before the store opened. Even though it didn't leave a trail behind me, it stayed on for a very long time which I loved.

This post may just be the encouragement I need to order it.
